CTF launches campaign to mail ducks to Premier Wynne

TORONTO, ON: The Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) is launching a campaign to tell the government to “duck off” over new revelations that the Ontario government paid $130,000 towards floating a giant inflatable rubber duck to mark Canada’s 150th birthday. The campaign encourages Ontarians to mail their own rubber duck to Premier Wynne, or to buy one at www.DuckOffQueensPark.ca for $5 and CTF will hand deliver them.

“We’ve been getting emails and phone calls for the past two days and Ontarians are outraged that the government is spending taxpayer money on a giant duck when families can’t afford to keep their lights on and the province is wasting a billion dollars a month on debt interest,” said CTF Ontario Director, Christine Van Geyn.

“This duck is truly symbolic of this government’s frivolous waste. That’s why we’re asking people to send their own ducks to the Premier – so she gets the message of just how ‘ducking’ stupid this waste is,” continued Van Geyn.

The CTF is hoping to deliver the ducks sometime next week.

Van Geyn has recorded a video to announce the campaign. It can be viewed HERE.
